Not too much to see here…just a few photos from the sloppy xmas party Dale and I (well, mainly Dale) pulled off at the last minute. Unfortunately, there were no photos taken of the drunken snow fight that followed.
The highlight of the evening was clearly when Frank wore one of our trash bags and danced to Missy Elliot’s “I Can’t Stand the Rain“.
Waking up to inches upon inches of snow presents an interesting experience for the dogs
Hella, of course, is at home in the tundra. Rumble, on the other hand, can’t get his belly above the icy piles. He’s definitely not a fan.
Surely, in some indirect defiance of turning old, I decided to try out the local TSNY (trapeze school) for my 30th. Apparently, I fly through the air with some degree of ease…everyone kept saying how surprised they were that it was my first time. Loads of fun.

Next week it all goes down…in New Orleans! Turning 30 on 11/10/09 is kind of cool, no?
More details soon…
Of course, it’s probably a little obsessive, but I redesigned Evilry.com again. Who says I don’t like change?
The primary motivation was to make the site more link-focused, since that’s really what I’m doing most of the time…collecting & sharing links. The previous design was more centered on article content and surfacing media on the homepage. And in truth, I don’t exactly author lengthy yarns on Evilry.com, since Popscorn is gaining momentum. There are only so many hours…
Hope you like the new look. And don’t be surprised if an element here or there changes over the next few weeks.
The New
(obviously)

The Old

Apparently it’s Gaelic for “with us.” The British-inspired Gastropub is slated to open in the Fall of 2009, and Dale and I had the chance to dine there last night for a preview of sorts.
Having a steak served with marrow-based mix as a side is one thing. But having it served on top of an actual bone is another. Kinda freaked me out.

The dessert was a much more welcoming presentation — some “banofee” (bananas, I guess?), granola crispy, whip cream kind of thing.

My second assignment for the photography class was a little less inspiring. I’m not exactly wild about portraits to begin with — it’s often so staged and cliche — but trying to capture compelling images while on a birthday wine trip (aboard a Keg Bus, no less) isn’t exactly easy. Nevertheless, I pulled together a fairly comprehensive set of images that seemed to please the class. And it challenged me to a degree, so I guess the objective was accomplished.
