From Vincenzo Natali, director of two supposedly mind-bending films Cube and Nothing (which I’ll certainly need to rent here soon), comes Splice, the tale of a “beautiful but dangerous winged human-chimera.” Kind of like 1995’s Species and executive produced by Guillermo Del Toro. Can’t wait ’til September.

It’s just a concept right now, but if a vineyard embraced this kind of positioning, I would totally become a devoted fan. The bottle lists no details or an age and is accompanied by “a small pack containing missing and/or suppressed crime files implying the existence of the living dead in and around the vineyards…a slip knot with old twine and a deep red wax dipped bottle.” My Pure Evil white isn’t as sophisticated as this, but it’ll have to do for now.

Dale and I watched it this week (2nd time for me) and I loved it. Despite the first-person filming giving Tim some motion sickness when we saw it in the theater, Quarantine is one of the more worthy, creative and downright scary films of the past few years. Right about three weeks out from the big soft axe, I’ve started to get some traction in my hunt for a new job. Last week I had two in-person interviews and two phoners.
